For some reason the McKinney soccer people put Davis' team in the wrong group of teams. Last week, the score final score was 21-0 (D's team won) and the other team played 1-2 extra players the whole time. The games have not been much of a challenge for the boys and as parents, of course we are proud of them, but 10-0 gets a little boring!! Today, they actually played an evenly matched team and had a game!!! It is so fun to see how far they have come as players and teammates after several seasons togther. They are beginning to realize they have to work together to be successful...it is after all, a TEAM sport!!
Before Davis started to play soccer, the only thing I thought about soccer was at least a 90 minute game only lasts 90 minutes. None of the commercial breaks dragging out the torture. But it is so different when you watch your child play. The success, the failures...it is the whole package. The first time Davis played soccer, he cried every time a goal was scored, his team or not. Why?? Because HE had not been the one to score it. Now, most weeks he scores at least 1 goal, but even more importantly, he celebrates with his teammates when they score. I have said before how fortunate we were to get on a team with a great coach, parents and players because the lessons they learn can be so valuable when they have positive experiences. Go Underdogs!!
