God is Working

This week, our SS director sent this email to the whole department.

I am writing this email to ask for your assistance in a very important mission project. Many of you know that a group of men are organizing a mission trip to travel to Kyrgyzstan later this year to assist in the construction of a school. I believe 7 men from our church have volunteered to be part of the team that will travel there. Jason Frey is one of the men that has selflessly volunteered. These men will be instrumental in developing a place for educating children, and also in sharing God's love on the other side of the world.

Now, here's the part where we can help.

1 - First - PRAY. PRAY for the opportunity to spread God's word. PRAY for Jason, Alicia and the kids. PRAY for these men. PRAY for the safety of these men. PRAY for Krygyzstan. PRAY that the mission is a success in bringing glory to God. PRAY!

2 - Second - GIVE. As Jason has indicated, it will cost in excess of $3,000 for the cost of travel, preparations, medicines, etc. This is what I figure - Jason is doing his part by going. We can do our part by footing the bill. Now I know - $3,000 sounds like a lot of money, and it is. However, spread this out to the entire Adult II department, and I know we can go way above and beyond this number. God is giving us a unique opportunity to put our money to work in a way that will be very visible to us (through Jason). Please talk to Jason or I to discuss the methods of giving. Come ready this Sunday. GIVE!

3 - Finally - PRAISE. PRAISE God for Jason and these other men. PRAISE God that we have a church to freely worship. PRAISE God that our kids have some of the nicest schools in the world. PRAISE God that you live where you do. PRAISE God that we have the many blessings and resources that we do. PRAISE!

Jason had talked about the trip last week and did ask for people to consider giving, but not this specifically. This morning, we had a small group and Steve passed an envelope around and when it was said and done, this small group had given more than half of what we need for Jason to go. These gifts are precious in many ways. For me, it is one way God is confirming Jason is to be a part of this trip and making it a little easier for me to trust that he will take care of him and us while he is gone.
